TSA’s new program ‘Secure Flight’ and DHS’s program TRIP

Friday, 30-Oct-2009

Beginning these days airlines will be asking for more detailed information when you book a flight. The new, federally-mandated program called Secure Flight, requires the information:

Run by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Secure Flight shall
greatly reduce the number of passengers misidentified as matches to the watch list.

People who have been repeatedly identified for additional screening can file an inquiry to have erroneous information corrected in DHS systems, see follwoing link to information regarding DHS-TRIP.

Once teh airlines have the additional passenger info at hand it is hoped that delays at the airport, particularly for passengers who have names similar to those on the watch list, can be avoided.

Collected information is:

-Full name (as it appears on the government-issued photo ID you travel with)
-Date of birth
-Gender
-TSA-issued Redress Number (if applicable)
