2009 Mountainboarding Competition This Saturday, August 1, in Snowmass; Camp Aspen/Snowmass Camping Trip August 5 – 6 Aspen/Snowmass, Colo., July 29, 2009 – Great news for mountain bikers and hikers alike, the Village Express lift will be running this upcoming weekend for the first time in summer history, August 1-2 and the following, August 7-9. This is perfect timing for both the 2009 Mountainboarding Competition on Saturday, August 1 and Blast the Mass mountain biking competition the following weekend.
Village Express to Run and Sam’s Smokehouse Opening: August 1-2 and August 7-9 – The Village Express will run this weekend and next from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. instead of the Burlingame Lift. The lift will be open to both mountain bikers and foot passengers this weekend, August 1-2. Mountain bikers will have lift served access to the official Blast the Mass course, the Terrain Park in Eureka, Cross Mountain, Government Trail and many more trails.
The Village Express will only be open to foot passengers August 7–9 due to Blast the Mass. Lift-served mountain biking in Snowmass will be restricted to competitors Aug. 7-9 and will not be available to the general public.
Sam’s Smokehouse will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. both August 1-2 and August 7-9.
Aspen/Snowmass Premier Season Pass Holders will ride the Village Express for free. Tickets for all other guests will be $20/day for adults or $30/weekend and $12/day for children, youth and seniors. All tickets will be sold from the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center.
2009 Mountainboarding Camp and Competition: July 30 – August 1 The Snowmass 2009 Mountainboarding Competition will take place this Saturday, August 1, with a downhill boardercross event followed by the competitors showing their style and skills in a Big Air Show in the Dirt Dawg Park from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. with awards at the Treehouse at 1:30 p.m. Registration, which includes a T-shirt, is only $20 and is still open. Mountainboarding Camp, featuring instruction from pros Jeremy Leafe and Kody Stewart, runs July 30-31 out of the Treehouse from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The daily fee is $99. To register please call 970-923-1227.
Treehouse Overnight Camping Trip: August 5-6 There will be a camping trip next week, August 5-6, in Snowmass hosted by the Treehouse. Kids ages six and up are invited to camp at a mountain cabin complete with a campfire sing-a-long, s’mores, ghost stories a visit from a forest ranger for a nature presentation and fishing. The overnight trip is $184/child and can be booked through Aspen/Snowmass at 970-923-1227.
