Yosemite Experience inthe Early 20th Century
“Views & Visitors: the Yosemite Experience inthe Early 20th Century” will be on display this summer in the Yosemite Museum. The exhibit will feature paintings, prints, artifacts, and ephemera from Yosemite from 1900 through 1946. Photographs and paintings of the landscape, early publications, memorabilia, and artifacts related to early visitor activities will be on view.
The exhibit includes an interactive listening station featuring oral histories and historic musical recordings. Digital slide shows of historic views of Yosemite visitors and hotels, and clips of historic film footage complement the display of artifacts.
The opening reception on June 7 from 5 to 7 pm is open to the public. The exhibit will be open from June 8 to September 30 daily from 9 to 5; and from October 1 to 31, daily, 10 to 12 and 1 to 4. This exhibit was made possible by a grant from The Yosemite Conservancy.
