May-05 is Cinco de Mayo. Not an official holiday but the day to celebrate Mexican heritage. It’s not Mexico’s Independence Day which is on September 16.
May-11: Mother’s Day.
May-12: Washington Monument (obelisk) is re-opening after it was damaged during the 5.8 earthquake on August 23, 2011.
May-17: Armed Forces Day — the day to come together and thank the members of the military for their service.
May-26: Memorial Day falls on the last Monday in May and is an official holiday in the United States — it’s established to remember all members of the military who died on duty.
